Obituary for Alonzo Malone

Alonzo Malone
Alonzo (Lonzo) Malone was born April 12, 1961, to Theresa Malone and Richard Phelps in Detroit, Michigan. Alonzo was the third of four siblings. Older brother, Anthony (Tweety) preceded him in death. He attended the Detroit Public School System.

Alonzo was a loyal and dedicated employee at the Quality Janitorial Company. He took pride in his position as a Floor Maintenance Technician along with other job responsibilities. He also worked for Arbor Nursing Home in Detroit.

Alonzo was bigger than life and he lived his life to the fullest. He was always the life of the party. Many of his friends knew him as “LaParis” which reflected his zest for life and outgoing personality. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He always looked forward to the Annual Parkside Reunion and partying with many of his childhood friends. Among his many great characteristics, he loved to joke around and tease his friends and family. He believed he could be a comedian. He also enjoyed bike riding, watching movies, cooking, and traveling. He loved to look good and always kept his hair and clothes sharp. In his later years, he cherished and enjoyed spending time with his son, Alonzo Jr., and his beautiful grandchildren. He loved taking them to Chuck E. Cheese, and other fun places.

Alonzo departed this life on Wednesday, November 15, 2017, after battling a long hospitalization at Henry Ford Hospital. The Lord seen he needed a rest and brought him home. He is now with his brother, grandparents, uncles, cousins, and other relatives. Alonzo was very much loved and will be dearly missed by all.

Alonzo leaves to cherish his memory his only son, Alonzo Jr. (Shantaniek), and grandchildren, Alona, A’Leiyah, A’Ja, and Austin.
