My fondest memory of Mr. Vernon was riding home on the Detroit City bus (he was the driver) from school sometimes with no fare because my sister and I would spend our money at McDonald's and we were to lazy to walk home. He was the father of one of my oldest friends so he would let us ride for free. He was funny; loving and kind hearted. I have never seen him frown and he always treated me and my sisters as one of his own. We lost a rare breed; he will surely be missed.
