Obituary for Wayne Rudolph Davidson

Wayne Rudolph Davidson was born on September 8, 1951, the first child of Reuben and Lydia Davidson in Detroit, Michigan. Wayne’s mother Lydia and brothers Glenn and Robert proceeded him in death.
Wayne was a Logistics Management Specialist for the U.S. Army Tank-automotive and Armament Command (TACOM), located in Warren, Michigan. At TACOM, he provided logistics support and monitored obsolescence and readiness issues for Ground Combat platforms and legacy systems as member of the Department of Defense civil service workforce.

Dr. Davidson earned his Doctor of Management in Organizational Leadership (DM) in 2008 at the University of Phoenix and the title of his doctoral dissertation is, Manufacturing African American Self-Employment: In the Detroit Metropolitan Area. The scholarly work is a case study of five self-employed African Americans and an examination of the environmental, behavioral, and psychological factors of becoming successful.

Dr. Wayne Rudolph Davidson served on active duty in the United States Army from 1980-2000 joining the United States Warrant Officer Corps in 1986. Davidson’s military experience lead him to acquisition membership and supply chain management certification within the Department of Defense Army Acquisition Corps, Society of Logistics Engineers, National Speakers Association, Toastmaster International, Lean Six Sigma, Institute of Management Consultants, Penn State University and Wayne State University.

In 2000, Dr. Davidson was a Military Science Instructor for Junior Reserve Officer Training in Detroit Public Schools. He taught high school students the value and merits of citizenship and leadership. From 1995-1998, he taught business management to adult learners at the Central Texas College’s Truman Education Center in Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri.

In addition, Dr. Davidson has completed three personal genealogical books in the form of African American family history in a trilogy: (1) When Clans Collide: The Germination of Adam’s Family Tree through Surname, Life Experience, and DNA; (2) Discombobulation: When Clans Collide under the Influence of Urban Renewal, Baby Boomers, Knuckleheads, and Stupidville; and (3) The Second Seed: A Civilized Man’s Trek on a feral US Highway 11 and Recombobulation of his Ancestral Heritage through DNA. The trilogy is connected to the Davidson family tree with their African and Native American roots and is expected to be completed by winter 2020.

Since 2003, Dr. Davidson indulged in his love of baseball and inducted as an enthusiastic member of the Detroit Tigers Fantasy Camp Hall of Fame in 2015. Wayne Rudolph Davidson aka “Way-nee Dee” is also the lead vocalist for his band of former Motowners performing on two compact discs, It’s My Nature in 2016 and Still My Nature in 2017.

Wayne Davidson is survived by his wife, Bertha Davidson, his daughters, Jeanne Anthony, Treasure Pattison (Lucas), Lydia Davidson and Lynette Davidson-Latchaw (Trevor), his grandchildren Kalyn Sherrod and John Sherrod III, his father Reuben Davidson, his sister Glenda Davidson, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

In memory of Dr. Wayne Rudolph Davidson, the family will be contributing to the Detroit Tigers Foundation for school supplies and sports equipment in the Detroit Metropolitan Area with any monetary gifts.
