Obituary for Fannie D. Glenn

Fannie Dean Glenn was born in Nashville, Tennessee, on March 14, 1934, to the late Fant and Hilda Waters. Fannie passed away on May 2, 2020 at St. Mary Mercy Livonia Hospital, Livonia, Michigan.

She attended school in Nashville, Tennessee. She married Thornton Elijah Glenn in December, 1953 and they relocated to Detroit, Michigan. Her union to Thornton Elijah Glenn lasted nearly 26 years until his death on March 25, 1979.

Fannie was a long standing member at Greater Burnette Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastors, Dr. James Allen Caldwell and later Dr. Nathaniel Caldwell. She served on the Broadcast Angels Auxiliary and sang in the choir until her health began to decline. She attended Blondie Brown's Beauty School and worked as a Licensed Cosmetologist. She later changed her profession to a Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA). After retiring from full-time work at Lutheran Haven Nursing Home, she returned to work part-time and retired permanently in 2005.

Fannie loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and friends throughout the years, attending church, numerous family outings such as picnics, roller skating rink to watch family, Christmas Gatherings, socializing with friends she worked with at Lutheran Haven Nursing Home and church. She also enjoyed many other events, including frequenting the Erma Henderson Marina to board the family yacht to cruise down the Detroit River.

Fannie Glenn was preceded in death by her Husband, Thornton Elijah Glenn, Brothers, Thaxton Waters, Sr., Johnny B. Waters, and Son, Valdez S. Glenn Sr. and Son-In­Law, Lester Shreve.
Fannie Glenn leaves to cherish her memories Son, Andre Glenn, Daughters, Marsha Shreve, Sherry Glenn, Barbara Wilcoxson (Charles Jr.), and Dora Glenn. Fannie had 9 Grandchildren, a host of Great Grandchildren, 2 Nephews, Douglas Glenn and Paul Glenn (Lebanon, Tennessee), and a host of other family and friends.
