Condolence From: White Family
Condolence: We would like to express our deepest and heartfelt condolences to the Johnson family. We are truly sorry for your loss. Experiencing the death of a beloved family member is one of the hardest things that any of us can go through. And because of this our thoughts and prayers are with the family. Take comfort in knowing that God never intended for us to deal with sickness and death. But have assurance in the wonderful promise that God holds out to us. He promises to reunite us with all those loved ones that we miss so dearly. (John 5:28, 29) Until that time, cherish all the wonderful memories that you have of dear Stephen. We hope your precious memories will console you in the days ahead. And, as the days and weeks pass, and you return to life's routine, may you continue to feel comforted by the love and support of family and friends.

Condolence From: Ron Dean, CT Class of 1972
Condolence: Steve was my classmate and always a very fine gentleman. I admired his dedication and passion for his instrument of choice, the saxophone and how he played during the high school years.

During the first years after we graduated, I would see Steve and he spoke about playing music in England and Europe and how the musicians were talented.

I lost touch with Steve during the past years, but saw him during a 2015 dedications at the new Police and Fire Department; he was the Fire Chief of Safety and Training. After, reintroducing myself to him, I asked him if he still played the sax, and you know he said 'yep'.

To his family, I believe Steve is at home and even though he will be missed, it will be for a short while. Please take comfort in his courage and dedication as a City of Detroit Fireman, love for his family and the community he served.

He has affected many firefighters in his years at Detroit Fire Department and Wayne County Community College District. It is time to watch your successes. Sail the clouds in your boat. Condolence: May Jesus our Jehovah hold you all in the palm of His hand as you remember Stephen's life legacy. Although he is now alive and well in his new home of Heaven, he surely will not be forgotten by all who knew and loved him. The Bible declares that "to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord", so may this eternal truth bring you all hope and encouragement now and in the days ahead.
